I was doing such a bad job of using my actual blog as a training log that I actually started writing it down again. From now on my plain vanilla training log post will be here. I’ll start with my 8 mile run on June 28th.
Date: Sun. 6/28, Distance: 8.05; Time: 1:20:38, Pace: 10.01, Course: 2 loops of my 4 mile home course. I reversed the last lap to change it up. Notes: He who ignores history is doomed to repeat it. I said i wouldn’t do multiple loops on my long runs again but I did. It was again a mistake. Got out early so it wasn’t that hot. Was pacing slow but was still disappointed in my first lap time. Switched directions of the lap for the second which helped mentally. Thought it would help on my heartbreak hill but its never as good going down as it is miserable going up. Sad about my time because I thought I was speeding up a bit. Still the second lap felt better than the first.
Date: Tue. 6/30, Distance: 4.02; Time: 35.02, Pace: 8:43, Course: Home route 4 miler, Notes: had a “cold front” blow in. Much cooler at my 9:30 am run time than before so i decided to make it a tempo run. Felt good, happy with the results, still felt like I had more to give.
Date: Thur 7/02, Distance: 5.05; Time: 48.30 Pace: 9.36, Course: Home route 5 miler, Notes: decided to take it slow today since I’d already done a tempo run. It was freaking hot and humid. 83 degrees at 9:30 but it felt like 90. I was happy with my pacing.
Date: Fri, Distance: 4.02; Time: 36.28, Pace: 9.04, Course: Home route 4 miler, Notes: 84 degrees and humid. looking forward to fall. Both legs hurt bad the first half mile then they got better. Felt slow the first mile but got into it better. Did a good job of holding back the pace at several points.
Date: Sun 7/05, Distance: 9.01; Time: 1:33:34, Pace: 10:22, Course: 9 miler through the park, Notes: Wrote about it on 7/10. Cooler than it had been. 81-82 degrees no humidity, overcast with a threat of rain. Just glad me and my bloody nipples finished.
Date: Tue. 7/07, Distance: 5.05; Time: 49.17, Pace: 9.46, Course: Home route 5 miler, Notes: Nice and cool for the time of the year. High 70s and low humidity. Started great and my left leg hurt less. Thought I’d be faster but crashed between the 3-4th mile.
Date: Thur. 7/09, Distance: 5.05; Time: 45.30, Pace: 9.01, Course: Pushed the pace on this one and felt good. I think my Thursday run will be my pace day. Decided to start out faster and it helped. Ebbed between miles 3-4 like always but recovered well.
Date: Fri. 7/10 Distance: 3.12; Time: 27.47, Pace: 8.54, Course: Home route 3 miler, Notes: Hadn’t run 3 in a while. It was an early run but the temp (high 70s with a breeze) made up for it. Started fast and felt good. Stumbled, literally at 2.2 miles but recovered. Ended up running further than I thought but was happy with it.
Date: Sun. 7/12 Distance: 10.04; Time: 1:40:08 , Pace: 9:58, Course: 10 miler downd Fielder and through a new neighborhood (good) down Randol Mill and through another new neighborhood (bad), Notes: wrote a little about this one on the blog. 82 and sunny through the whole run. The temperature climbed but I had a great run. I was in a better place at the start of this one, more rested and more excited and it helped. Hit my half way point a minute fater than my goal pace. Miles 5-7.5 were the hardest. They were in a new neighborhood that was a little scary. Finished strong right on pace.
Date: Mon. 7/13 Distance: 3.12; Time: 29:44, Pace: 9:32, Course: Home route 3 miler, Notes: Went out for a recovery run. Took it slow and never tried to push it. My legs were sore from yesterdays 10. Glad to have it done.
Date: Tues. 7/14 Distance: 5.1; Time: 47:40, Pace: 9:21, Course: New 5 miler.I like this route. Down Fielder ,trhough a new neighborhood with some hills to work with and then back, Notes: I can tell te recovery run helped my legs. They were still a little sore but would have been much worse without the recovery. I realize now that I ran my recovery a little too fast and need to slow it down. Another warm morning at 81 degrees and climbing but a slight breeze helped. Starting to rely less on my watch for split times and more on my bdy and sense of pace.
Date: Thurs. 7/16 Distance: 5.1; Time: 44:27, Pace: 8:43, Course: New home route 5 miler, Notes: This was my weekly tempo run. My goal was an 8:45 pace and I came in at 8:43. I pushed the first half mile too hard, going out in what I would estimate was a 7:30 pace. I like starting fast because it surprises my body before it can complain but this was too quick. I coasted in pretty easily and felt like there was more ther if needed. I’m real happy with making my pacing goals, which I worried were a little too aggressive.

Just me again. Your fan. I don’t have any shoes. Since you quit running, could you please send me your shoes? Might as well throw in your computer too, since no blog now.
